My problem is similar. I haven't had this issue before. The charger
keeps disconnecting and reconnecting at random intervals when the
battery is full (and makes this annoying clicking noise, the sound of
plugging a socket into a wall). This doesn't happen when the battery is
charging and pc runs

Since upgrading my Samsung 540U4E-K01AU to Kubuntu 14.04 the battery
charger keeps connecting and disconnecting as i change from application
to application or another tab. It doesn't drop out if im not interacting
with the laptop. I have tested the charger with a
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

It says upgraded to trusty on the 25-10-2014 but i have been using it
a lot longer then that.
