I had both Python 2.3 and 2.5 installed on my system, but dpkg used in some way the 2.3 version. After I removed 2.3 all went well, and dpkg used version 2.5 and fixed the broken installation. Thanks for your explanation. -- Syntax Error in gnome-sudoku https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139312
