2015-01-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sergio Del Valle, could you please capture the crash following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash ? You are looking
for either a kernel call trace, or a xorg backtrace to show up in the
log to attach.

[Bug 1406428] Re: Dell XPS L502X Freezes

2015-01-04 Thread Sergio Del Valle
I updated the BIOS as pointed, and was working fine, but after a while
it froze again. Here's the output of the command supplied:

A12
09/07/2012

I didn't reboot the laptop this time, just switched to a terminal
session, with Ctrl + Alt + F2, and then switched back to the GUI
session, and this was enough to get the system responding again.

[Bug 1406428] Re: Dell XPS L502X Freezes

2015-01-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sergio Del Valle, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
As per
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/xps-l502x/drivers
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A12). If
you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does
it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what
happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.
