Some more were fixed some time ago. If you look at it now it looks much
nicer, although there are still some failed assertions on quit.

I don't think so.
They have tried several times to fix theme, and they still try, and fix
some. However, there are priorities, and other crashes, or regressions,
or things that really affect usability have a high priority.
In the other side, that doesn't mean some of the failed assertions you
