Chris,
I tried burning the new version to a DVD and ran that as well but i get
the same error message about nautilus. So i have booted into jaunty and
i don't get the DMA errors. I also booted live into The DMA error is
present in Lucid and my current release. Those are the only 3 other live
cd's

it's important to note that this issue doesn't occur immediately it
happens after the computer has been on for more than 7 hours or so it's
very variable as far as the time it has to stay on. I will put the
vivid on a USB stick and boot it though just to test. I do know on
ubuntu 9.04 i didn't
ok i'll do that and try tonight and update tomorrow since i don't know
how long it will be if it occurs again

chris,
I tried the live and gets me booted but then i get a prompt that says
cannot create /home/.config/nautilus please create yourself and i can't
do anything because i can't get anywhere. ctrl-alt-t won't even give me
a terminal.

I updated the bios to F7 and no change. It is also may be important to
not i was getting the same error with my hard drives as well. Switching
the AHCI mode fixed it but now for whatever reason every time i boot i
have to press S to skip mounting a drive. It didn't do this before
switching to AHCI

First step would be to try and find a kernel version where this is
working. Either an older or newer one. This will allow us to search
for the fix. If you know of a version where it did work let us know.
If not you might try the v3.18.3 kernel from the Mainline kernel
archive:
I can't upgrade to the 3.18 as it doesn't support the nvidia-311 drivers
that i am using
