I have noticed, when running processor-intensive apps such as Handbrake or FlightGear, that the inbuilt speakers become crackly but can often be restored by repeatedly activating the Test Sound Button. Might I suggest that this is caused by a conflict of interrupts? -- You received this bug

When pluggin in a microphone, the Unknown Audio Device window pops up and the microphone can be selected. The Microphone - built-in Audio menu items appears in the System Settings Sound Input window as expected and any sound picked up by the microphone shows up as a moving segment in the Input
