Public bug reported: Lensfun 0.3.0 and 0.3.1 brought major improvements with them, in particular the possibility to update the lens database without re- installing Lensfun or updating the package. This is very often requested by users. Besides, the lens database has grown heavily over the last two releases, with more than 200 new lenses. Therefore, I think it is senseful to put some effort in updating the package to v0.3.1.
The old Python-based build system was removed from Lensfun. If the package used it, this would make non-trivial changes necessary. Moreover, there are some scripts included now that are supposed to go into /usr/bin, so probably, a new package lensfun-utils or lensfun-tools becomes necessary, depending on your packaging guidelines. I'm a dev of Lensfun and willing to help with that. I have only little -- albeit not none -- experience with Ubuntu packaging. ** Affects: lensfun (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Lensfun 0.3.0 and 0.3.1 brought major improvements with them, in particular the possibility to update the lens database without re- - installing Lensfun or updating the package.
