Public bug reported:

I was running Firefox and Kontact, possibly Dolphin, nothing else.
Plasma suddenly crashed leaving the apps on a black screen. Switching to
another terminal, killing TTY7 deleting ~/.cache and rebooting seems to
have fixed it for now.

Some history:

I was running Kubuntu 14.10 and did a distro upgrade. That went straight
to black and as I needed to work I installed LXDE as a stop gap. This
week I did a fresh install of 15.04, AMD64 and found it wouldn't drive
my NIC. So I re-installed using the 32bit version which has worked OK
for 2 days. Now the random crash.
