I tested this bug on version RC-proposed revision 84 using a BQ device
and when the proximity sensor is covered the screen will not turn on so
there is no way to unlock your screen by mistake.
I have also checked iPhone 5 and the screen stays on when the proximity
sensor is covered. Also you can

RC-proposed is released for us, there's a .deb out there with the fix,
it's up to whoever does the OTAs to package it nicely in a user release.
