I have the same problem using a self compiled driver from nvidia. But I
have to look which one it is today evening.
I use Ubuntu 8.04
What else do you want to know?

Same happens here on a Amilo M3438G with a GeForce Go 6800. This
definitely began with the new nvidia driver.
