[Bug 151684] Re: Camera Detection Issues
It has a slightly different signature, but yes i believe it's still present in Intrepid. I seem to recall seeing that it was moved into the kernel and disabling the driver no longer works, resulting in a 5 minute boot delay and continual writing to /var/log/messsage of the following: Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.096232] usb 5-8: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.096741] gspca: probing 046d:0892 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.304536] vc032x: check sensor header 44 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305310] usb 5-8: USB disconnect, address 95 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305405] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305410] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305414] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305418] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305422] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305426] vc032x: I2c Bus Busy Wait 0 Mar 5 18:30:15 laptop kernel: [ 76.305428] vc032x: Unknown sensor... [Bug 151684] Re: Camera Detection Issues
I have the same issue as well with my ACER Aspire 5672 using the Logitech Orbicam. Boot is longer due to issues with the camera and system log shows after boot: usb 5-8: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 16 usb 5-8: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice /build/buildd/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-2.6.22/debian/build/build-generic/media/gspcav1/gspca_core.c: USB SPCA5XX camera found.(VC0321) usb 5-8: USB disconnect, address 20 gspca: probe of 5-8:1.0 failed with error -5 This also is resulting in a blank return from 'lsusb': Bus 005 Device 001: ID : Bus 004 Device 001: ID : Bus 001 Device 001: ID : Bus 003 Device 001: ID : Bus 002 Device 001: ID : Which makes me think that the camera does not load so it will not allow the other usb connections work either... a usb mouse will not work nor a flash drive. Error log count reaches 800 before full boot into system and then after 2 hours reachs 2800, so 1000 errors logged in an hour just for this camera. I fear to use my system for a long period in case error log tops out at some point. If there is any fix I would greatly appreciate some information as to why this is happening or a way to stop it, such as disabling the camera. The hardware profiler for the usb looks like the image in the attachment. ** Attachment added: "Device Manager" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10852959/Screenshot-Device%20Manager.jpg -- Camera Detection Issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151684 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 151684] Re: Camera Detection Issues
I recently encountered this problem too on my Acer Aspire 5610 laptop with built in camera. (read: very common mid-range laptop). For me it loop through USB addresses up to 127 and then started again at 2 during boot. This stopped the boot process in its tracks(!). Rebooting in safe mode didn't help either. I worked around the problem by booting with a different kernal and then adding gspca to the blacklist. Looking at lsusb, I'm guessing that the webcam is: Bus 005 Device 002: ID 046d:0896 Logitch, Inc -- Camera Detection Issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151684 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
