Public bug reported: Starting gnome-terminal results in a 79×23 window instead of the standard 80×24, at least in Ubuntu Gnome with the default Adwaita theme on a high-DPI laptop. This makes it irritating to use some applications designed for an 80-column terminal.
According to an upstream bug report (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=750559), the problem is caused by the Ubuntu patch debian/patches/0001-Add-the-style-context- provider-with-FALLBACK-priorit.patch, which was reverted upstream (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740123#c6) and in Debian (https://bugs.debian.org/787104) for this reason. A new version of this patch (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=740123#c9) fixes the problem for me. ** Affects: vte Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: vte2.91 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: vte2.91 (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Tags: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528728 Title: gnome-terminal starts up at 79×23 instead of 80×24 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/vte/+bug/1528728/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
