This happens to me on Ubuntu 15.10 but I think I observed that on Lubuntu as well. I'm not sure but it might be related to Qt-based applications in general as I remember vaguely same behavior of some terminal application which I think was Qt-based. However, this does not happen with KDE applications, for example Kile survives the change. QtCreator fails regularly.
