uploaded to Debian unstable and could probably easily synced with Ubuntu.
  The current Ubuntu release is missing quite a few critical bugfixes (cf. bug 
#1404568) and does not build on all Ubuntu supported architectures.
- flashrom 0.9.9 compiles and works on all supported architectures (and quite a 
few more).
+ flashrom 0.9.9 compiles and works on all supported architectures apart from 
s390x (although we plan to add that in the final 0.9.9 release).
  Also, the old version is missing support for some very popular hardware 
devices.
  
  On the other hand we deem regressions very unlikely. The development
  process of the last 1,5 years was rather slow regarding new features and
  has focused on improving cross-platform compatibility etc.
  
  For a short overview of what has changed from 0.9.7 to the current
  version please see the attached NEWS file (NB: upstream tagged 0.9.7 at
  r1711, 0.9.8 at r1888).
