I noticed that on all reports I found concerning this bug, the architecture is
amd64.

I have the same problem, using Xenial 16.04 (X64).
Seems solution is to install python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat, which removes
packagekit.
'sudo apt-get install python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat'

This happens when I go System Settings --> Details. Apparently this is
due to the "Overview" menu where it automatically searches for any
available updates (packagekit).
