Ok, the issue seems to be related to the locale in use. Namely this seems to be happening when using Italian locale (possibly other locales will be affected as well), where commas (as opposed to dots) are used to separate the decimal part of a figure. Booting the ISOs of Trusty / Unity, Wily /
