[Bug 1563903] Re: Image aliases not updated for auto-updated copies
So I'm marking the bug won't fix due to the way LXD works. However I am sending a patch to remove those serial based aliases as they are more confusing than useful. This should then make things behave the way you'd expect for the simplestreams provided images. ** Changed in: lxd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1563903 Title: Image aliases not updated for auto-updated copies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxd/+bug/1563903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1563903] Re: Image aliases not updated for auto-updated copies
It's intentional in that we cannot tell what came from the original image and what was added or change voluntarily by the user. So what we do (and is documented) is that we simply roll the previous aliases to the new image, which in this case means you have those image- specific aliases stuck with a newer image. It's certainly confusing in this case but I can't think of a way to solve this at this point. We could record in the image source that the user requested for all aliases to be copied, but even then, we would have no way to know what aliases came from the original image server and what was changed by the user. So we could wipe them all on copy and copy them again from the source, but that would mean loosing anything the user changed locally... One way we could "fix" that particular issue is by not having those timestamp aliases in the first place. I'm not sure how much value they actually bring and if nobody uses them, removing them would certainly fix this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1563903 Title: Image aliases not updated for auto-updated copies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxd/+bug/1563903/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
