I'm proposing this debdiff for Gutsy, it fixes three crucial bugs:
- this one
- a corruption of links which leads to a crash for some persons
- a problem with the tray icon plugins which seems to lead to a crash for some
persons.
All those fixes are already in 0.23 in Hardy.
It works fine for

Ive talked to Jaap, who created Zim.
He said that its a known bug, fixed in version 0.20 in August 2007.
He also noted that he keeps getting the same bugreport from ubuntu-
users, so the ubuntu-packages should really be updated.

I can confirm that I get the same behaviour.
This is also a bug that I saw on Zim in redhat 7 at work. Some weeks ago
there was an update in the redhat repositories, and now it works great.
I think it would be great to have this update in Ubuntu as well since
creating a link is quite important
