I got that problem too when installing Ubuntu on my cousin's computer
(it was our only problem, except that, everything was working great out
of the box). I fix it as explained on

Any chance to see that fixed for Hardy?

I do agree, but the rt2500usb module works pretty well in both fedora
7-8 and suse 10.3, please have a look at
