I got that problem too when installing Ubuntu on my cousin's computer (it was our only problem, except that, everything was working great out of the box). I fixed my WUSB54G issue by downloading and installing the latest rt2500 legacy driver from serialmonkey.com: http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads For build install instructions: See section 4.4.
