[Bug 1570653] Re: 4K Monitor not detected properly

2016-10-23 Thread madbiologist
Goldstar is the old name of the LG corporation.

The problem is logged in your dmesg.txt:

[ 10.609475] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery
reached max voltage
[ 10.609494] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* clock recovery failed

This probably also causes the later:

[ 46.014534] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* channel eq failed: 5
tries
[ 46.014557] [drm:radeon_dp_link_train [radeon]] *ERROR* channel eq failed

Does this issue still occur with the latest Xenial 4.4.0-45.66 kernel?

Hi, apologize for late response. I am pretty sure I was using FGLRX
driver in 15.10. It was awhile ago.. memory is foggy.

[Bug 1570653] Re: 4K Monitor not detected properly

2016-06-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
kelargo, to clarify, were you using the radeon or fglrx driver in 15.10?

** Description changed:

4K monitor is not properly detected.

using xfce desktop "Display" utility, my monitor is detected as
"Goldstar Company Ltd 27" with a resolution of 3840x2160 and 60.0Hz

The actual monitor is an LG 31MU97-B Black 31" with a resolution of
  4096x2160.

I'm pretty sure the Monitor's resolution was properly detected in 15.10
(4096x2160). It was called "Goldstar Company Ltd" but
I do not recall which size was detected. (27" or 31")

I remember seeing a 4K youtube video in 15.10 and noting the black bands
on each side of the display, due to the difference between 3840 and
  4096.
