Unfortunately, the bug is present in the release of Hardy. I workaround it
by disabling visual effects - this causes the window to behave in a normal
manner.

Workaround: Alt+Tab cycles through to the dialogue box which is asking
for the save location. This permits the scan to be saved, and the over-
large window closes, restoring control to the user.

also the window stays on top of any dialogs it creates, so to close you
have do FIle-Close, then alt+tab to get to the you have not saved
warning.

i am adding compiz to the bug, as it may be more of a compiz issue. it
is at least some sort of regression in compiz compared to metacity.

I have noticed the same problem.
Unchecking main Window size Fixed doesn't help me ether.
Also, when trying to do anything in the viewer window that brings up a
dialogue box such as closing without saving, the dialogue box hides
behind the main viewer window.
