2018-01-21 Thread Eric G
I upgraded to xenial and clustering = yes seems to work fine now as does
ctdb. But I did get another error when running:

# ctdb scriptstatus all

Output was an error at the bottom referencing the "interface" script:

function gensub never defined

Installing the "gawk" package seemed to fix it. Perhaps this should be
added as a dependency or at least recommended to go with ctdb?

I found the gawk fix here: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-
technical/2014-December/104352.html

2018-01-20 Thread Eric G
I ran 'apt-get source samba' on both trusty and xenial. debian/rules
has different cluster options.

Current xenial source (4.3.11+dfsg) has a bunch of references to ctdb
and conf_args uses both config parameters:

--builtin-libraries=replace,ccan,samba-cluster-support
--with-cluster-support

Current trusty source (4.3.11+dfsg) has no references to ctdb and
conf_args does not use --with-cluster-support, only:

--builtin-libraries=replace,ccan,samba-cluster-support

Hi Andreas,
this is on our expiry check for server-next bugs today.
You worked on so many smb issues that I lost the overview - are there any

[Bug 1597858] Re: Samba package version 2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.3 is not compile with CTDB support

2017-06-09 Thread Andreas Hasenack
I can see evidence that clustering is not enabled in the update, but I
cannot see that evidence in the original trusty version. The smbd -b
output in that older samba version doesn't mention clustering
capabilities.

If I use these ./configure options to 4.3.1:

--builtin-libraries=replace,ccan,samba-cluster-support \
--with-cluster-support \

Then the build produces extra cluster related files, like usr/bin/onnode
and usr/share/man/man7/ctdb.7, but these come from the ctdb package in
ubuntu.

Do you have ctdb installed, configured and running on both SAN1 and
SAN2, and the same version?

In trusty it is:
  Version table:
 2.5.1+debian0-1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages

It will take me some time to setup ctdb to verify this behavior.

At least, I can verify that smbd does NOT start with the updated package
4.3.11 if clustering is set to "yes" in smb.conf.

[Bug 1597858] Re: Samba package version 2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.3 is not compile with CTDB support

2016-09-13 Thread Julien Langlois
I performed the same CTDB tests with both versions of Samba:
2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 and 2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.3.
CTDB was working with 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 but not with
2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.3.

No third-party samba package.

samba 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 in trusty isn't built with ctdb support. Are
you sure you weren't using a third-party samba package?

[Bug 1597858] Re: Samba package version 2:4.3.9+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.3 is not compile with CTDB support

2016-07-01 Thread Brian Murray
The build log for 4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 doesn't seem to indicate it being
built with ctdb support.

building without cluster support: ctdb.h is required for cluster support

Regardless, I'll assign this to the security team who uploaded 4.3.9.
