[Bug 1604070] Re: Xorg freeze
avraham, to clarify: 1) If you disable the Intel card (via the BIOS, or nvidia GUI) is this reproducible? 2) If you uninstall the nvidia proprietary drivers is this reproducible? ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-405 ** Tags added: latest-bios-405 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Medium ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604070 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1604070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1604070] Re: Xorg freeze
Thanks. I updated my BIOS, but the problem still occurs and there seems to be no difference. sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for avraham: X556UJ.405 05/20/2016 ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604070 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1604070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1604070] Re: Xorg freeze
avraham, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/X556UJ/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (405). When you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the situation? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on how this improves the situation. 3) Please mark this report Status New. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your help. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1604070 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1604070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
