[Bug 1624369] Re: Please sync mozc 2.18.2595.102+dfsg-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-10-26 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ok, I synced this to zesty. Next we'll see if we can get some of its
binary packages demoted to universe.

Max Bowsher or anyone affected, if the version of mozc in Ubuntu 16.10
"yakkety" does not work, please file a separate bug for that with
specifics about what does not work and how it should work. Most Ubuntu
developers do not use mozc themselves.

I'm going to go ahead and unsubscribe ubuntu-sponsors from this bug to
get it off the sponsoring queue.

This might be late for Yakkety then. If it's something to get in
urgently, please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess

[Bug 1624369] Re: Please sync mozc 2.18.2595.102+dfsg-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-09-23 Thread Max Bowsher
Concerning this update... ibus-mozc seems to have stopped displaying its
suggestions window on upgrading to yakkety, which is a rather major
fault.

Upgrading to a local build of this version restores it.

Oh, sorry. You are right. Some uim related binary packages need to be
demoted to universe.

its binary packages are demoted to universe. You'll need to talk to one
of ~ubuntu-archive to see if that's appropriate here.

OK. I will send mail to ubuntu-arvhive@l.u.c.

I think you misunderstand Ubuntu's universe policy. Packages can build-
depend on universe packages as long as no binary package in main ends up
depending on a universe package.

In some cases, a package in main can be split so that one or more of its
binary packages are demoted to universe. You'll need to talk to one of
~ubuntu-archive to see if that's appropriate here.
