16.10 ISOs... what was your experience with the final 16.10 Ubuntu GNOME
ISOs?
But I also don't think this is happening with perfect determinism
either.

I saw the same kind of warnings with the Ubuntu GNOME i386 20161012
image when run in GNOME Boxes which I understand is qemu with spice. I
just manually power off the VM at that point.
