[Bug 1653982] Re: grub-install post installation script fails

2017-02-09 Thread Phillip Susi
That is very strange. Simply reinstalling grub without making any other
changes should not have had any different outcome. An EFI system must
have an EFI system partition mounted in /boot/efi. The original error
message is complaining that it can not find that.

[Bug 1653982] Re: grub-install post installation script fails

2017-01-17 Thread Matt Bruzek
I did not have a special /boot directory in my partition table so boot
was part of the root (/) mount point. The root partition is on sdb1 if
that helps at all. When investigating this I did have the /boot/grub
directory, but was unabled to find the i386 directory in that tree.

To work around this error was able to set the bios to "leagacy mode"
(non-efi) and purge both the grub-efi-amd64-signed and shim-signed
packages. Reinstalling grub-efi-amd64 package only. This has allowed me
to get a clean apt-get run.

2017-01-12 Thread Phillip Susi
"error: cannot find EFI directory." means you do not have an EFI system
partition, or that you do not have it mounted. I assume you installed
the original system in EFI mode. Is your /boot/efi mounted?
