Here's a script that will get the wifi back up and running again without
a reboot:
```
# If an interface name was not passed in then assume that wlo1 is the interface
name.
Final update on this. It turned out that using the 2.4 Ghz band was much
more stable than 5 Ghz, which got wedged within minutes, but conditions
eventually worsened until even on 2.4 Ghz without much internet usage it
would get wedged every few hours. I then tried out various kernel
versions on
Also now experiencing this bug after 17.10 upgrade - never had a problem
before. Wifi still works fine on the Windows side of dual boot so
probably software issue. Messing with swcrypto, rfkill, power management
off, WOL off doesn't seem to have any effect. I tried different older
ucode versions
I'm sorry, but this new kernel is much, much MUCH worse than the old one
as now my system is completely unusable.
With 16.04 when the Intel network adapter gave out I could at least switch to
one of my other ones.
But with 18.10 neither the Ralink nor the Realtek work. They are both "active"
Observing exactly the same as described by Paul after upgrade to 17.10
Title:
Ubuntu 16.04 doesn't recongnize wifi card after loosing signal
Against my wishes I've updated to 17.10 along with the kernel and
drivers that come with it.
And it still fails. Works for a few minutes then goes permanently to a
"Device not ready" until the next reboot.
But now it's even worse because it also trashes every single other wifi
device I have.
Sorry...but I really don't know what you're talking about. Who or what
is Artful?
Then try Artful's 4.13 kernel. It's compatible with Nvidia blob.
I do understand that apparently I can't use the mainline kernels because
I'm using the nVidia blob...
Try latest mainline kernel here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.14-rc2/
Also, with latest linux-firmware will be helpful:
Bugs,
Sorry...I found another USB wifi adapter that used a non-Intel chipset,
so I plugged it in after the Intel one failed and ran apport as
requested.
