[Bug 1687262] Re: 16.10, 17.04 Wired connection stopped working RTL 8111/8168/8411

2017-09-08 Thread Alexey Balmashnov
Upgraded to artful beta - the issue persists.

$ lsb_release -a
LSB Version:
core-9.20160110ubuntu5-amd64:core-9.20160110ubuntu5-noarch:printing-9.20160110ubuntu5-amd64:printing-9.20160110ubuntu5-noarch:security-9.20160110ubuntu5-amd64:security-9.20160110ubuntu5-noarch
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch)
Release:17.10
Codename:   artful

Moreover, it became worse. Now if I disable manual configuration in
/etc/network/interfaces (as described in comment above
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/zesty/+source/linux/+bug/1687262/comments/4)
the system does not boot.

[Bug 1687262] Re: 16.10, 17.04 Wired connection stopped working RTL 8111/8168/8411

2017-05-02 Thread Alexey Balmashnov
Live Ubuntu 17.04 session is running OK (mentioned in original report) and it
is using:
-
$ apt-cache-policy linux-image-generic
linux-image-generic:
  Installed: 4.10.0.19.21
  Candidate: 4.10.0.19.21
  Version table:
 *** 4.10.0.19.21 500
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu 4.10.0-19-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 6 17:04:57 UTC 2017
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
-

So, I did not go in suggested direction of checking upstream kernels...

Instead, I tried manual network configuration though, and it worked (see
below). So it is definitely not a kernel problem but network
configuration/network connection management problem. Not sure, where this bug
has to be reassigned.

[Bug 1687262] Re: 16.10, 17.04 Wired connection stopped working RTL 8111/8168/8411

2017-05-01 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.11 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
