Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. It looks like you had mariadb installed at one point. Mariadb and installing mysql from ubuntu will conflict. To get passed this you need to remove all the mariadb packages first, and then attempt to install mysql again. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'. >From your Log: mysql-client-5.7 conflicts with virtual-mysql-client "Mariadb-client-10.0" provides "virtual-mysql-client" and is present as "unpacked but not configured". Mariadb and Mysql are mutually exclusive. This usually is handled by package dependencies and conflicts, but I can't see how you got into this situation. I'd recommend trying to purge and traces or mariadb and then re-install all mysql components.
