Public bug reported: Please sync gnome-dictionary 3.25.90-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception: The new version switches to the meson build system and drop libgdict. The library has only one reverse dependency: gtranslator has an optional plugin that is supposed to embed the dictionary. gtranslator is basically unmaintained. That plugin was dropped from git master years ago. I hesitated packaging the new version because of the library removal but it looks like there is no objection to removing the library in Debian. https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-dictionary/tree/NEWS Since 3.25.90, there is one major code change: to switch the manpage source from troff to XML for easier maintainability. https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-dictionary/log/ Changelog entries since current artful version 3.24.0-1: gnome-dictionary (3.25.90-1) unstable; urgency=medium * New upstream release - Remove libgdict * Build with meson * Add install-man.patch: Cherry-pick patch to fix manpage installation * debian/copyright: Exclude docs/rfc2229.txt since it's non-free -- Jeremy Bicha <jbi...@debian.org> Wed, 06 Sep 2017 11:34:00 -0400 Changelog entries since current artful version granslator 2.91.7-3: gtranslator (2.91.7-4) unstable; urgency=medium * Drop Build-Depends on libgdict-1.0-dev since gnome-dictionary 3.26 no longer provides this library. * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.0 -- Jeremy Bicha <jbi...@debian.org> Wed, 06 Sep 2017 11:10:24 -0400 ** Affects: gnome-dictionary (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-dictionary (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1715612 Title: FFe: Sync gnome-dictionary 3.25.90-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-dictionary/+bug/1715612/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
