Public bug reported: Please sync r-base 3.4.1.20170921-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception: While 3.4.1.20170921-1 is a release candidate of the upcoming 3.4.2 bugfix release, the Debian packaging includes a change from providing 'r-api-3' to 'r-api-3.4'. This will require no-change rebuilds of just about every R package. This is due to an R ABI break that affects an unknown number of packages already in Ubuntu (see Debian #861333). Ben for the transition from Sébastien Villemot: title = "r-api-3.4"; is_affected = .depends ~ /r-api-3(\.4)?/; is_good = .depends ~ /r-api-3\.4/; is_bad = .depends ~ /r-api-3\b/; Changelog entries since current artful version 3.4.1-2: r-base (3.4.1.20170921-1) unstable; urgency=medium * Initial rc build (r73337) of R 3.4.2 expected for Sep 28 * debian/control: Package r-base-core now 'Provides: r-api-3.4' per the Debian Release team. I still consider this to be wrong (as there was no API change) but my hands are tied here. * debian/compat: Increased to 9 * debian/control: Set Standards-Version: to current version * debian/README.source: Added -- Dirk Eddelbuettel <e...@debian.org> Sat, 23 Sep 2017 11:49:56 -0500 ** Affects: r-base (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Affects: r-base (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: r-base (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #868558 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=868558 ** Also affects: r-base (Debian) via https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=868558 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1719245 Title: FFe: Sync r-base 3.4.1.20170921-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/r-base/+bug/1719245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
