...been using kernel 4.14.11/12/13, and there are no errors and no freezes. There is also nothing in changelogs about rtl8723bs fixes, and yet, it works. Interesting. I've applied the above mentioned patch, and rebuilt the rtl8723bs module, but the same problem persists.
