This looks like the problem fixed by this patch:
https://github.com/tristanheaven/gtkhash/commit/7d94836c0169585f838c1f88b6f44db87c355b5e.patch
I don't know about getting that into the Ubuntu package, but the patch
should apply cleanly onto v1.0 or v1.1.
