Public bug reported: gnome-shell or X is disappearing (crashing?), with frequency of roughly 1 time per 2 days. This last time it happened when my partner was switching users (we have 2 users on this box "Beast"). This is a new Ubuntu 17.10 setup on i7700/NVidia 1060 with 3 monitors plugged to 1060. The symptom is black screen with lines like [ OK ] Started User Manager for UID 121 and unresponsive keyboard.
Hard drive was blinking so I tried and I was able to SSH into the machine and run ubuntu-bug.
