This still happens in Hardy Alpha 2. The wallpaper is shown instead of
the terminal. I press enter and the CD ejects, and the computer
restarts.

I've gotten a similar error on my Acer Laptop with the Ubuntu Live Daily
Build (Dec. 2, 2007). After the installation completes and I am asked
whether I want to restart the PC or not, I chose yes. At this time the
everything disappeared on the screen except for the Gutsy wallpaper.
