Hi, the version in Xenial is afaik only postgresql 9.5 (for the server and the tools). 9.6 would be available in later releases like Ubuntu 17.10 and Ubuntu 18.04 is already on postgresql-10. I would not even see how you start to install postgresql-client-9.6 in xenial without adding non
