The recompression of the original tarball is not actually needed. Also wget https://github.com/pdewacht/brlaser/archive/v4.tar.gz mv v4.tar.gz brlaser_4.orig.tar.gz pull-lp-source brlaser cd brlaser-3 quilt pop -a patch -p1 < ../../brlaser_3-6_4-0ubuntu1.debdiff allows to build the package. --
