You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have been using Ubuntu 18.04 with Gnome Flashback with Compiz for about a month without issue. I performed normal updates on either 3/4 or 3/5 and now get a login loop using either Metacity or Compiz. When I try to login I just get kicked right back to the login screen.
In an attempt to trouble shoot, I did a fresh install or Bionic without updating and only installed Gnome Flashback and everything was fine. I was able to login no issue. I then performed a normal update and this broke the login in using Gnome Flashback. Normal Gnome login is working with no issues. I did notice that there were Gnome packages updated with the latest updates although not sure which ones. I am not sure what in the updates caused the issue. I do not see any issues being raised in .xsession-errors. Permissions on .XAuthority .ICEauthority are fine. I also tried deleting the .cache and .config directories with no change. If there is something else I can provide to further aid in debug please let me know. ** Affects: gnome-flashback (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Committed ** Tags: bionic -- Can not start Flashback session in Bionic after recent updates. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1753807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
