The keystroke ctrl-S causes searching in a treeview widget when that
widget is focussed. You can change this in the keyboard preferences
window for the whole of GNOME.
This has nothing to do with Metacity, incidentally.

I'm not sure I understand where these settings are though... sorry.
Also, if this is supposed to be the default setting, I'm proposing to
bring focus BACK to the 'Name' text field as I don't know why you'd want
to search for a file when saving a file.

alex-weej i think they're claiming that if you have the Browse for other
folders expander open when the file selector comes up, the default keyboard
focus is in the folder view, not the name entry
