4 years later now, and this bug is still present, at least in 11.10.
Fortunately the fix (executing images.sql from source) also still works.

Installed 1.8.2 (mysql) on debian lenny - we have icons.
But /usr/share/zabbix-server contains only 2 scripts: data.sql mysql.sql. No
images.sql, so the created manually fork doesn't have them (database was
created using the above scripts.)
