Public bug reported:

i have a dual boot set up, i put in a brand new windows 10 on my main
drive and attempted to put a new live usb version of Ubuntu Mate 18.04
lts nothing special just followed the installer prompts, nothing fancy.
all was new, and again i get the same problem. i tried to eliminate all
my potential mistakes and hoped for the best, but no. apparently , the
installer put a version onto the partition but cant boot into it, but i
am not sure. why it waits till the very end to notify of a crash is not
good. it would turn most people away from ubuntu totally. i have endured
over a dozen tries both plain ubuntu 18 and mate versions on live cd and
live use. cant make it go. even the workaround , installing the
bootloader through the repair method , copy/paste failed to boot into
the supposed system what's up. dont want any new linux users? isnt good.
