[Bug 1780628] Re: linux-4.15.0-23-generic RAID 5 kernel BUG

2018-12-14 Thread Jaroslav Dytrych
I have a same problem with the current version of Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
(Bionic Beaver) with kernel 4.15.0-42-generic.

I have a new RAID 5 array with 4 12TB drives. As the array is being
initialized, it takes 3 to 10 minutes to reach a kernel bug (under the
additional system load less than 1 minute).

[Bug 1780628] Re: linux-4.15.0-23-generic RAID 5 kernel BUG

2018-07-17 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.18 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1780628] Re: linux-4.15.0-23-generic RAID 5 kernel BUG

2018-07-13 Thread Steve Kowalik
Spoke too soon, it does still occur with 4.17.0, *however*, it much much
harder to trigger.

[Bug 1780628] Re: linux-4.15.0-23-generic RAID 5 kernel BUG

2018-07-13 Thread Steve Kowalik
This does not occur using the 4.17.0-5-generic kernel from Cosmic, so
something fixed it in the n commits between 4.15.0 and 4.17.0.
