[Bug 180675] Re: pcmcia: Detected deprecated PCMCIA ioctl usage from process: discover.

2010-03-24 Thread TJ
I've created bug #545858 since lshw causes this warning in Lucid. That
bug is against the package "lshw" (Niloc Deep's reports are for lshw not
discover, which is the original report here).

I think this bug should be against the package "discover" not "linux"
and also marked "Fix Released" since running discover on Lucid doesn't
cause this warning.

Looking at the "discover" changelog it appears it was fixed when the
package switched to libdiscover2, although the 2.1.2-3 commentary ("Time
to drop discover1 and migrate to discover v2") doesn't appear to match
up with the dependencies for earlier (pre-Jaunty 9.04) packages which
show libdiscover2.

Hi, I'm on 2.6.27 and the same thing still happens:

[17014.009082] pcmcia: This interface will soon be removed from the kernel;
please expect breakage unless you upgrade to new tools.

[Bug 180675] Re: pcmcia: Detected deprecated PCMCIA ioctl usage from process: discover.

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

Thanks Cristian,

what does 'dpkg -l pcmciautils' return for the version? Thanks.
