If you are upgrading, you need to remove your ~/.glipper directory.
After I did this, glipper ran fine. Glipper is now a gnome panel applet
(hence no binary in /usr/bin). It doesn't have a separate launcher
anymore, so you need to use Add to panel . Cheers.

I have the same problem on hardy alpha 3 and I am running the i386
architecture.
(The gutsy version runs on hardy, however it gets always updated, even
if I lock the version.)
