I would uninstall those packages and I will see about getting 5.0 kernel

1. I tried removing the blacklist fix and rebooting the computer to see if the
partial install of the kernel fixed the problem. It did not (see attached
screenshot)
2. I tried updating my software, however the system detected a partial install
and now does not allow any updat

That commit certainly looks like it will solve the problem. I would love to
test it bud do not know how do so from the directory you have pointed me to. I
have never installed a kernel only. Can you point me to instructions on how do
do so?

Could you try the latest kernel at
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
And see if the wifi works without blacklisting ideapad-laptop as a new commit
may have fixed this
