Just disabled legacy boot and CSM in the BIOS. Now I get a working
/sys/firmware/acpi/bgrt

I'm surprised Lenovo would make that kind of mistake... Maybe triple
check that it's in UEFI-only mode, and CSM/Legacy stuff is all disabled.
If one of those are untrue then it may well hide BGRT by design.

Sounds like we need to write a new theme, based on the spinner code.
I also wonder if it would make sense to spin the Ubuntu logo in place of
the generic spinner.

Come to think of it, I'd say we should always fade (or transition
somehow without "flicker") into an Ubuntu logo. Regardless of whether
BGRT is present.
That way people get a better idea of when Ubuntu is starting and it
doesn't look like it's stuck on the BIOS.
