a test result here for reference: in my system there're 2 kernels 4.15.0-1030 and 4.15.0-1045 1. installed dkms from [1], which included the proposed patch. 2. install dkms from [2], which set OBSOLETE_BY="4.15.0-1033" , and set 'FORCE' already. from the attached message during installation, -
