2019-12-09 Thread ylluminate
I can dig this back up here, but I'm curious: this is clearly a problem
on multiple levels and needs to be addressed regardless of the details
for which you're asking. Am I missing something as to why this would
still be marked as undecided or such a peculiar ambiguity that's being
desired here right now? This should simply be done without this strange
rigmarole.

It would be useful if you could include steps to reproduce the problem.
If you also have logs about the failure, please do provide them.

[Bug 1855567] Re: msmtp extremely out of date - no longer works with various SSL/TLS services

2019-12-08 Thread ylluminate
Can that Debian package simply be modified or used going forward?

Version 1.6.6 is incompatible with cPanel. cPanel support specifically
said that 1.6.6 is not able to be used and the new version noted above
must be used to work with cPanel. There were also issues with Gmail, but
I do not have the details to this.

The above steps I provided proved to work flawlessly with cPanel and is
now in production, however it is somewhat of a headache to install this
on other Ubuntu Server instances. The missing init.d script is also
problematic as my attempts thus far to implement startup has been met
with failure.

The bottom line is that (as you can see from the history -
https://marlam.de/msmtp/news/) between the necessary fixes for actual
functionality and the security updates, this update is critical for LTS
releases.

[Bug 1855567] Re: msmtp extremely out of date - no longer works with various SSL/TLS services

2019-12-08 Thread Simon Déziel
FYI, since version 1.8.1-1, the Debian package ships a systemd service to
control msmtpd and it
lets you configure the listening port. In version 1.8.5-1, an init.d script was
added as well. Version 1.8.6-1 is included in the Ubuntu release that's
currently in development (Focal).

Could you provide more details on the SSL/TLS problems you ran into with
version 1.6.6?
