This bug also affects me (same laptop, ubuntu 19.10). Headphones works but sound is quality is low compared to Windows. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme 2018 which has the same Realtek ALC285 speaker, seems to work fine on Arch, status is "working" on their wiki :
